It is soldered to the back side of the gauge cluster.

generally they get dirty or cold solder joints when they are not working. They can be replaced with any 12Volt buzzer that is at least 75 dB (lower dB if you don't care to hear it while driving).

I love that buzzer.....great for autox when you dont have time to look at a tach

And the always fun passenger question - "What was that?" "Oh, the redline buzzer"

Ok its connected to the Main Gauge cluster, not the dummy lights right?

If it is connect to the main gauge cluster how do you get it out? I got everthing strip to the cluster and then remove the 4 screws holding it in and then I could only move it foward like a 1/2 inch?!

The buzzer in the gauges is for over rev (redline), low oil level, and low coolant level.

Yes, its in the main gauge cluster. You will need to reach behind and unplug the speedo cable, as well as two (or three if you have a S5 auto tranny) plugs.

Your best bet for removing it is to remove the steering column surround (4 screws accessed from the bottom), then the gauge surround (what the light, turn signal, hazard, wiper, etc) switches are on (3 screws across the top, two on the bottom).

Unplug and remove the surround by sliding it up between the steering wheel and the dash.

Then 4 screws on the cluster. Slide it forward about 3 inches on the left side, reach around the back and unplug everything attached behind it. (again 2 plugs and a cable or 3 plugs and a cable if it is a S5 auto tranny).

Then it too will slide out between the steering wheel and the dash.

then looking at the bottom back center of the gauges, you'll see this 4 pin soldered on white 1" x 1" box with round perferations (like a small speaker grill) in the recess at the bottom rear center indentation. That will be the buzzer.

i have the same problem. After you get to it, how do you fix it??

You said you can get something in radio shack the could fix it. My question is are you able to remove it from the the back to the cluster and show it to the radio shack ppl so that they can give you something like ??

Next question, is it fixable w/o replacement? if it is how?

why replace it? I wish mine would go out......All i hear is MAHHHHH....vrooooommmm......MAHHHHHH.... If you know your car at all you'll know when the damn thing is in the red....get to know your car and say **** the buzzer. don't tell me you need it for low oil level because if your oil gets low like that then you aren't taking very good care of your rex and i'll come over to your house and relieve you of your rex related duties...... Thanks and i'll see you soon....

Ever considered the possibility of springing a fast leak? Splitting an oil cooler hose? Do you check your oil before every drive? I doubt it...

I, personally, cant stand mine. But that's me, and I can't stand the key warning buzzer or the seatbelt buzzer or any of that. I know how to drive, and I know how to wear a seatbelt, and I damn sure know if I'm overrevving or not.
