Reupholstering seats

Has anyone done this? is it hard? I have a few family members that are tailors, so i think they'd be able to do it for me, but i'm just curious if anyone has done this before, what sort of leather am I looking for, what thickness thread, is there any foam that i'll have to buy?
Do the seats have to be pulled or can the skins be removed with the seats in place?
Thanks!
-Ross

I think you'll have to pull the seats, not like it's a big deal.. there's like 4 bolts.

I want to get mine duplicated.
You'll just need to get covers made if you are getting yours redone, as long as all of the foam is OK (not squished/broken/etc).

I've looked into reskining the seats in my GTX. Local upholstery shops want big money (around $300/seat) to recover them. Talked with the dealer and he seems to think he can get covers from Mazda for less. We didn't try to look them up though. He ballparked about $200/seat. That's better but for that I'd look into aftermarket.

i just hate downtime. I don't want to be riding on metal bars for a few months while they get stitched up lol

don't know who scalliwag is but I just bought a pair of grey leather ones in perfect condition for 350 shipped for both. Find them online from someone who just got racing seats or something!!!
