Reupholster or new seats

I'm investigating and pricing reuphoster and as it's gettin up to close to $1000 for what I want(before I , I'm starting to think that maybe should just get new ones.

But I'm assuming new3rd party seats would be tough to get to fit correctly.

Suggestions?

It's certainly easier to use the stock frames and a good shop should be able to make them fit you better than almost any aftermarket seat out of the box.

It really depends upon the condition of your CUSHIONS more than anything.

These cars are getting pretty old now and the underlying cushions even in good condition cars tend to be pretty deformed and worn down compared to new.

For that kind of money, you'd be better off with new seats.

Shops can replace/upgrade/reshape the foam easily.
The trick is finding a quality upholstery shop/guy.

Another option to consider is different seats, I went this route and very happy with a modern seat. I found mine used and found used brackets for less than $700 for everything. Name: DSC_0261_zps3899406d.jpg

How's the fitment compared to the stockers in terms of seat position?
I know the pass side bracket is different. Are there brackets out there that'll make 3rd party seats work in an fc?

Fitment is good however these seats are rather large, I Wanted these more for comfort and modern support. My seat position is roughly 1" taller on the right side only due to the exhaust tunnel but that is due to the seat cushion. In would prefer a aftermarket seat over the factory just for the taller and stronger seat bolsters. What are your plans with the car? For seat brackets I am using Corbeau however a company called planted makes some very nice ones that are designed to seat you at the lowest position.

This sounds like a good possibility.
I use this car as a "good weather daily driver". I also do the occasional 200 mile trip, so would need it to be comfortable for a 4 hr ride. Wifey is usually co-pilot, so pass side height shouldn't be an issue. I've got a +2 seat in the back that my kid uses once in awhile, but I'm assuming that won't be affected.

So, Corbeau makes fc brackets and what are those - Recaro seats you're using?

I would say new seats. I looked into the corbeau and they do indeed make seat brackets for their seats, I've read varying fitment on the brackets lining up to the floor though.
I recently got some bride gias v2 reps, probably not what your looking for though but always a thought.

Drivers seat we installed modifying the seat base and oem rails.

For the passenger side I will probably try to pick up some bride rails from japan they run about $210-250 but the passenger side is also more of a pita to modify the oem rails than the driver side.
