Retrofitting a tranny
Hey guys I'm in the market for a new tranny, and I want something more durable than the n/a tranny, but I don't want a tII tranny. Since there really are no aftermarket non-dogmissions/dogbox trannies out there, what about putting a tranny in from another car? Has anyone done this? What would the easiest swap be?

kill it with BOOMSTICK!
you got to make a conversion plate/bell housing (depending on case design) and have a custom driveshaft made up. Also, figuring where the shifter would end up and making all appropriate adjustments as necissairy (think of the old AC cobra, with the shifter that came through the floor at the rear firewall and was a giant "S" bend so that it would end up at the 'normal' shifting position). Personally, I would just go for the TII trans, you already know it fits, all wiring is done for you, and you are pretty much good to go after you get a new starter and driveshaft (yeah, right, I think I'm at ~$1k for my upgrade and I'm still not done yet)
