Unhappy Clutch trouble

While in nuetral with the clutch out going about 80 my car began to rev madly at 7000. I tapped the gas to see if it was stuck, not the problem. I immeadiatly shut the engine off. I then started it and idle was normal. When I tried to put it in gear it wouldn't go. The clutch seems to have pressure because it doesn't fall to the floor when depressed. Please help!

does it go in and out of gear with the engine off??????

if so.. either your slave cylinder, realease arm, throwout bearing or clutch disc took a crap.

Why the hell were you going 80 with the car in neutral....????

I was about to downshift and come to a stop.

It seems to go in and out of gears with the engine off.
I think that it is probably the slave but I wanted to see if anyone had had the same problem.
