Retarding the timing more than stock.

I'm running a stand alone fuel controller (megasquirt) on my 87 turbo II. I've got the boost up to 10-12 psi and am starting to get some detonation. I was wondering what others have done on the 2nd gen to get some more igition retarding without going to the stand alone ecu??

Thanks,

JC

Water injection is one option. Are you running the stock intercooler, and injectors?

www.digitaltuning.com offers a somewhat reworked stock ecu that retards ignition over fuel cut. Other options include:

retarding overall timing at the CAS
Apexi ITC
Greddy e-manage

Seek to eliminate the cause of detonation, which may have other causes than timing:

Not-cooled enough air (maybe from a stock top-mount intercooler)
or

Insufficient fuel (maybe maxing out stock injectors).
