Retarded Steering wheel

Well i hate to ask becasue ive always considered aftermarket steering wheels a bit ricey... But mine is to the point where the rubber will twist back and forth on top, and this can be a pain in the *** while driving on the autoban... So what do i need to replace the stock one, and any recomendations for a decent (IE Low price) steering wheel?

you just need a steering wheel, and a hub (in most cases)

you could just try and find a junk yard or somethign and get one off another 7 (or maybe another car, I'm not sure if they'd fit though)

to take the steering wheel off, it's just a few screws in the back, and then a big bolt in the middle (after you unscrew the center section)

Maybe start by doing a search in the 2nd gen "parts for sale" forum.

FWIW: The S5 steering wheel was by Momo.

Only on the S5 Turbos... the S5 coupes and non SRS Convertibles all got the same three spoke steering wheel as the 88 models.

My 91 GXL had one.
The PO may have installed it?

What do you call "low priced"?
I prefer MOMO, Nardi / Personal, Sparco.
This are not typically "cheap", but you'd be surprised how much they transform the car.

One of the problems that most people don't realize is that the stock steering wheel has a very big "dish".
Most aftermarket steering wheels are pretty flat, and even with hub adapters, you tend to hit the turn signal and cruise control stalks pretty easily.

I run a MOMO Race 350mm and a 1.5" spacer on top of that.

Hehe, yeah i dont like goin to cheap on my car... But i cant see spending like 600 buck on a steering wheel. On the same token, i dont want to take it to the Nurenburg Ring with it feeling like Gumby either.

Brand new MOMO steering wheels are US$150 to US$300, so US$600 is kinda expensive!
The MOMO hub adapter is typically US$60 to US$80, so you're looking at around US$250 to US$300 on average for a full set-up.
Since MOMO is made in Italy, you might prices a little cheaper than prices in the U.S.?
But I do know that Germany is stupid expensive for everything!

Let me just say I envy you to eternity. I love the Nurmburg(sp?) Ring. I want to drive there someday. I feel like I know that track so well because of Forza, but i'm sure it is much different. If you can, get a video of some Autoban runs, or maybe a track video, later.
