Unhappy Replacing rear diff mount bolts, bad problem

I was inspecting the diff mounts today because i have been getting a lot of chatter and bucking when starting out in low rpm. Well I really messed it up, the front diff mount looks like it could use a replacement. The rear diff mounts on each side have about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of movement vertically.

So I thought I would tighten the nut on the mounts....guess what happened...

Well I broke the bolt that the right rear diff mount sits on, it sheared. Now I am screwed it seems like. How do I go about fixing this? It looks like I will have to cut apart the frame where the bolt is mounted in order to put another one in.

Has any one else had to tackle replacing the bolt for the rear diff mounts? How is it done?

Ive never replaced one, however im going to ASSUME that they thread in

If this was me, i would cut it off flush, drill and tap the hole to use the correct sized threaded rod, id measure down and find out where the nut should be tight and weld a bead around the threads so thats as far as you could go, then id double nut that stud.

Somebody else will probaly have the correct way if you wait long enough

in worse case scenero i would remove the rest of the bolts . let the diff drop(assuming that the head of the bolt is gone) once the diff is gone use a pair of vise grips and lock it on and back it out. Thats what i would do.

this is a stud that is part of the body the only real way to fix it is to cut it out and put a new bolt in from the top with a fender washer to spread the load out you should also weld the fender washer to the body and the bolt to the washer.

That's what I figured from the way it looks, it also has a tapered shank that is bigger where it comes through the frame and tapers to the threaded end of the stud. I don't know if that's an easy stud to find a replacement for.

So looks like I should go the long way and cut out the thin looking metal that is part of the frame where the stud comes through, replace the stud and weld it all back in, and considering where it is, add a bracing for the welded section.

But before I get started, there isn't some way I am missing that you can get access to the top of that stud through hatch space on the inside right?

And you know what - I like the suggestion of cutting and tapping and putting in another threaded section. Because of the way the bolt tapers that might be a good solution and let me bypass cutting the frame apart, which I would rather not do. I can thread into the stud quite far from the frame and the stud will still be holding the side loads on the diff and the new threaded section will be enough to keep the mounts clamped inplace vertically. I think i will look into doing that as a first option, because if I'm going to to cut it out anyway then I don't have to worry about messing up the stud any worse that it is.

hey could someone post a pic or two of the rear dif mount?
i gotta replace the rear diff bolts i think and im not sure how to go about this.
i was told that i could just weld it up.... is that true or should i try to get the bolts in ther
apperently it is a huge pain in the @$$
