Replacing power antenna with rubber one
I tried searching but haven't found this topic anywhere. I am replacing my power antenna with an amplified mini rubber one because my power ones always brake. I tried to wing it but cant figure it out on my own...anyone know where I can get some resources on how to do this?

are you using a stock radio or aftermarket???
With either system you would need a relay for the amplified section of your aftermarket antenna.
and you do know that for best FM reception that you want an antenna 31 inchs tall. for AM reception you want the tallest antenna possible.
That shorter antennas (no matter how much amplication) will always get less reception.

And coil loaded antenna's have been around from bosch since the early-eighties...
Its been my experience a shorter antenna will have reduced range, coil loaded or not.

I have one on mine but just clamped it over what was left of the stock one there. Is this pic what your thinking about? Mine works great and I didnt have to rip anything apart.

Mine is way small. I hope it works ok. I hate big bulky antennas so I sprung for this one. I may just pay Circuit City to do it cause I can't figure the damn thing out.
Oh and it's an aftermarket radio. I got the XM deal

Well as an update, I got it installed at Circuit City. The reason I couldn't figure it out is because the plug wasn't the same so they had to splice some wires together. It only comes up about 2 or 3 inches from the car and gets good reception. I wouldn't say it's as good as it was but it's worth it for something that doesn't stick out 30 inches in the air.
