Replacing Metal Edging on Winshield?

I am thinking of replacing the metal strips and upper corners on my S5 windshield. Has anyone done so? Relatively easy or should an auto glass shop do so? Not sure how they are afixed.

Becareful. Mazda does not sell the L metal strips alone. You have to buy the side mouldings In order to get those metal strips. I have those currently on order from my dealership.

My uncle owns an auto glass shop and he quoted me $124 each at his price. Needless to say, I left the old ones alone. The biggest way to prevent damage is to make sure the wiper arms are adjusted low enough that they don't hit the molding itself.

When I bought my FC, the arms were too high at the rest position and would smack the molding on every pass. Needless to say, the driver side molding was destroyed where it was hitting. I found a used set from a parts car and adjusted my wiper arms down a bit, now it works good.

My 88TII needs to have the windshield reset, and the rubber trim on the top is in need of replacement. Is that as easy to get as the side's and corners? Dealer only item?

I think It was $156 a side retail. Seeing how I am attacking this avenue I have since collected a new sunroof, door and hatch mouldings. I've spent big bucks so far In preperation of my "new" soon-to-be restored 7. I haven't even Included my new OEM fenders, quarters and rockers Into the equation.
