Question Replacing engine & transmission

I am getting ready to replace the engine & transmission in my '88 GTU & have a few questions:

1. Does the transmission have to removed from underneath the car or can I pull it along with the engine?

2. I know I've seen instructions on the web for making an engine stand adapter for the rotary but now I can't find them. Anyone have them or know where they are?

3. From what I have seen on the web, it looks like Atkins Rotary may be my best bet for a quality rebuilt 13B. Any other suggestions or feedback on Atkins?

4. Any recommended vendors for a rebuilt transmission?

Thanks,

Don

you can pull the motor and trans together, but its just as easy to drop it from underneath.

as for the stand i dunno

atkins is a nice shop, good motors

and as for the trans, dont bother with a rebuild. you should be able to find a used one on the parts trader for ~125 or so

racing beat's web site shows a how to on the enginge stand it is pretty easy to make yourself; if you use the accesory bracket's mounting holes as a guide

There used to be a how-to site, but it's down now. Go to http://www.mazdatrix.com/toolmisc.htm to see what an adapter would look like.

It's easier to lift the motor out, then drop the tranny. It looks like it.
