Question Replacement Seats?

Hi, I was looking to replace my seats. Do you know any good (not too expensive) seats that would fit the '88 Vert. I looked at APC and a few others, but it's hard to find anyone that knows what fits. Your help is appreciated. By the way, are they hard to install???

APC? noooooooo!

Re-alignment tip: Put the bolts in real loose, don't tighten more than a thread or two worth until they're all in.

I got Tenzo R's. They were a fairly easy install. I just had to do a little "editing" to the stock sliders and mounts to get em in right though.

Dunno the size, its the standard Tenzo R seat (got em both for125$ new too!). The fact that the factory seat bolts threaded into the seats perfectly made things easy, I just had to drill some new mounting holes into the sliders.

Great Price, where did you get them? Any other installtion tips would be great. I have not had a chance to measure the seats, but they are the buckets with the speakers in the headrests. Thanks for all your help!

I got Sparco "roadster" for my ninety vert, although they weren't cheap, about $600 ea. I had to make an aluminum wedge between the bracket and the slider because they were almost straight upright. Plan on doing a little fabricating to get most aftermarket seats to fit right.

I got lucky, a local tuner was short on fundage and needed to sell em quick. I was the first one with any amount of cash to offer. If your planning on seat harnesses I recommend that you install them while you are putting the seats in. It sucked to have to remove them bastards again to do that.

And while the seats are out, take out the carpet padding and tar, if you want. Evrything is so much easier to do with a big gaping hole to work in.

i got a pair of like matrix x seats off ebay and they look great for about 120 for 2 and there universal so all you need is some fabrication and they slide and recline. and i would never put an apc part on my car even if my life depended on it

i dont know, i looked into it, and all the shops near me want around 300 a seat+tax, for that it is unreasonable, especially since they are the on piece sport seats.. so unless he has some awsome connections, racing seats maybe cheaper

For the price of mazdaspeed seats I'd just get sparco torinos...When I finally finish my car and go seat shopping I'm going to try and stay below 1k...but the mazdaspeed and torinos break that by a few hundred...maybe I'll get em anyways.

There are no aftermarket or other model seats that will fit without makeing some sort of custom mounting brackets.

The draw back to aftermarket (and most non FC seats) is that they will sit a minimum of about 1 inch taller than the FC stock seats. This means with a vert, many people will need to sit in a less than optimum seating position, just to fit with the roof closed.

And $300 for a stock seat reupholstry is a steal!! and considerably cheaper than any quality and decent aftermarket seat.

Mazdaspeed it is...1200ish isn't SO bad I guess, but why do they have to make the cheaper one in leather It's 1500 for bukskin...whatever that is..I bet it feels better than leather though.
-And when people say re-upholster do they mean, new cloth AND padding? Pretty much like a new seat? If that's 300 each thats not so bad for my AE seats..Driver side needs new padding (I want it perfect =/)

I was quoted at 1200 just to have both seats reupholsterd plus another 600 or so for toher misc. work. It may have been for installation and removal but I wasn't paying attention because 1200 is more than ill spend for redoing the seat let alone the extra 600. I would love 300 a seat. I wanted my redone in leather though... that makes a huge diff. cuz leather is so damned expensive. Cloth would prolly lower it but I dont see the point in reupholstering in anything else. I need new seats one way or the other but I don't know how hard aftermarket will be. I'm not a custom fab. pro.

I was quoted in the 300-400 range and to be honest that was just the padding. I don't think the exact same leather was quoted in the price. Picking that out is like painful. SO many leathers to choose from. I was told also from this person that they dont make that type of leather for the vert anymore. Damn. So the price in my neighborhood was for padding, springs & stiching it back together.
