replaced water pump, now car wont start

i recently replaced the water pump on my 88 rx7 non turbo. After this the car started but if i gave it pressed the gas pedal qiuckly the car would shut off. As i was going down the road in gear down a hill the car shut off and wouldnt start back up. i had to have it towed to my house. The car isnt flooded . I tested the car for spark and none of the wires were firing. theres no way that both coil packs died at once.why wont my car start? Please Help!!!

You need to figure out what you might have forgotten to plug in... Recheck your work.

check the 15A ENGINE fuse inside the cabin. Hell, check all the fuses, inside and out.

chek the water thermo sensor plug on the back of the pump housing, in case you messed with that (or hit it with the alt mounting bolt/nut)

check the plug on the back of the alt for security if you took it off

Each coil pack has a black/yellow wire. With the MM grounded, check both of these wires for 12vdc+.

multimeter, I think he meant...put the black probe to ground, red probe on the wire/pin you're checking for voltage...

i checked all the connections and found one plug that was diconnected. i reconnected it and and turned her over but it still wouldnt fire up. i figured that maybe by now the car was flooded so i did the unflooding proceedure- still no start. im not sure what the plug that was disconnected was- it was a small clear plug that had two small wires going to it. it connected to two small metal prongs that came off the right side of the alumium 13b injection block, it might have actually been right below the aluminum block.(i call it a block, its not the engine block, u probably know what im talking about) the plug was near or somewhere behind the oil filler cap.any ideas what this could be? anyways i checked the car for spark and still no spark! WTF!!! do u think it could be the computer even though im getting power to the coil packs via the black and yellow wire??

sounds like the intake air sensor, but why would you have disconnected that for the water pump housing???
Anyway, disconnect the neg battery terminal for a couple of minutes to "reset" the ECU, and try it again...

YOu dont reset S4 ECUs. They are dumb and dont store codes...

Have you tried to pull codes? Contrary to popular belief you can get codes even if the car isnt running.

http://www.teamfc3s.org/info/article...odes/main.html

All this will tell you is if a sensor is off (disconnected). If you have spark and fuel, 9 times out of 10, you are flooded..

It will tell you if the ECU is coming online or not... And if a sensor is disconnected or not, it will tell you that also.
