At this time, I don't mean to drag up this thread, but it's better than starting a new one (see how useful search is! ) Despite all the custom fabrication and what not, even if it's not exactly cost-effective (As far as we know...) Is there anyone who is still considering trying to put a Renesis into an FC. The thought of it makes me change pants. It's definitely something different. Well?

Wow I wish I had that kinda money laying around... Since you do youll be the first to buy one and then you can keep your rx-7 collection going.

You know id rather have a third gen then a rx8, and i agree completely with what he said. Some of us cant afford that stuff , especially me

do you think they kept the same eng/tranny bolt pattern?
that thread somewhere else in this forum bout how Yaw power has a renisis on a dyno stated that the renisis had the same bellhousing pattern as the rx7 (IIRC)

Yep it will bolt straight up to the RX-7 transmissions. Same bell housing bolt pattern since 1974! woohoo! Just need new motor mounts but it is only a matter of time before somebody somewhere makes an adapter. The Renesis can be had for about $5000 new from Mazda. This obviously doesn't take into account engine management or any in a huge list of needed parts. It would be a cool transplant though.

ya know i was just talkin' with my bros about this the other day. Fabrication would be a must and the wiring harnesses would be different. When i had my 1st generation 7 when i replace the 12a with the 13b the shop i went through had to rewire and i think they put in a new CPU, anywho it only took about 2-3 days for the conversion so it could be possible!! If i ever get my hand on a renisis engine. BTW the retail on a RX-8 is only $27000-$31000 this is alot better then the 3rd generation price!! damn actually it would only be like a $300 and something payment i just might do that after my truck is paid off in Jan.!! =p

Crate engines are available or will be shortly. The Star Mazda series had one of the teams prep a chassis and fit the Renesis in it for testing purposes. I have pictures of this fitment from the first race at Sebring if anyone is interested or will offer to host them. Nice little package. I'd be more interested in the new powerplant then the car itself.

It's probably just simpler to drop a 20B in with the custom mounts.
