Renesis in a FC

Anyone tried this? Is it even possible. I know there isnt much hope to do a turbo conversion for my '90 GTU. So anyone have a good website to look at or maybe a person experience?

If anything, a Renesis conversion will be more expensive than a TII conversion. And you can get more power out of the TII engine for the same price in what it costs to put in a Renesis.

Although if I had lots of money, it would be cool to put one in a 1st gen.

You willing to fork over $5k for just the engine?  I thought not.
At this point it looks like a $10k conversion unless you get all the parts at a really deep discount.

Ya your looking to throw an engine in that isn't that great of an upgrade in my opinion. At least nothing worth doing a swap IMO.

200hp n/a is quite a feat, compared to 200 turbo'd.

Would be cool for the Wow factor i guess, other than that though, you could swap a tii motor, and put the other 7 grand into upgrading it.

The renesis is a great engine much better than the N/A that's in the second gens. anithing can happen if you have plenty of cash. YOu would need the long block engine and a stand alone ecu and some other things.

well Maybe he has access ( doubt it ) to a really cheap renesis from a junked RX8, mayeb in his uncles salvage yard????? You never know.........I think the basic gain would be the fact that its a fairly new engine about 17 years ahead of regular na fc technology. Its good to dream man.

thx for all the reply's guys... If i do, do this it wont be for a couple of years at least. need to finish college. Anyway i though doin a tii conversion would be more expensive b/c they are becoming rare for 90-91? I wouldnt mind putting a 20b in it either, however getting one would be a problem, also i heard from the the guy i bought my 7 from that you can put a 20b in a FC however it was difficult compared to swaping 1 into a FD.

There is NO WAY IN ******* HELL, that a TII conversion will come even REMOTELY close to paralleling the cost of a Renesis conversion. It is like 1.5-3k vs. 5k-10k. Don't worry about the rarity of the motors for TII's if there really aren't any in your area ship a J-Spec over, it will STILL be cheaper. This idea, while cool in theory, would be hell on paper. There are so many things that would need to be changed or fabricated it would not be even close to being worth it IMHO. But if you are still determined power to you, someone's gotta be the first to try it. I am just not sinking my financial future, into something that would put out only slightly larger numbers, and would in no way warrant the pain in the *** it would take to accomplish. Just my .02, good luck.

Check out the dyno numbers for RX-8s vs. TII engines. I imagine it is the most compelling arguement for the TII engine.
