Removing wheel studs
Basically, in the wreck i was recently in, half my studs were sheared off or broken; Got new ones in the mail already, but before i dive in and try it myself without knowing how the hubs are setup in terms of wheel studs, i figured I'd ask. Anyone have a writeup/past experience? What'd be the best way of removing and reinstalling new wheel studs on both front and rear tires?

The fronts: take off hub..Put a crappy wheel nut on and hit it.Stud will come out.
Rear hubs need to be taken off,and that means a New bearing assembly.

Stay with me.
The whole rear control arm assembly houses the bearing assembly.The Bearing assembly has the studs pressed into it.
The studs will not come off that bearing assembly unless the bearings are off the control arm.
SO,you need to take the bearings off..to get at the studs.
and IF you do,you may as well get NEW ones.
oh,and yes,rear bearing,seal and a New axle nut.

I didn't get new bearings when i did mine, and i drove it for 7 hours last night straight without a problem in the world. But then i parked it for 10 minutes and when i went to drive it home, and still now, I'm getting a lot of whirring noise coming from one of the wheels. Could it be because i didn't replace them? And please, give me a straight answer; IE don't try and tell me i NEED them 100% just because you think you may as well replace it while you're in there, if it's not REQUIRED when removing the hub then tell me. I'd like to know. I don't feel like forking out the money for these bearings, tearing everything i just put in back apart to install them, and then come to find it wasn't even the problem.
The thing that has me confused is that i was cruising ALL NIGHT, stopping at the mini car shows if you will at sonic throughout, and i didn't have ANY problems at ALL until right as i was about to leave. The rear wheel bearings are sealed. So if by chance in the accident the seal broke, all the lubricant leaked out.
When the bearing is still hot, it's just not going to seize up. Initially, it'll have enough lubricant to be fine while driving around. Once it all leaks out, it's going to start overheating. It won't seize at this point. Once you stop for a while, it's going to try to literally weld itself together as it cools. Once you start going again, those roller bearings start to hit the spots where it tried making welds, and you now have a whirring noise.

Thing is there's nothing leaking, not a drop from anywhere on the car, and there wasn't the entire time i was driving, either. Not even an oil leak. But i think i found what it was; I'm not pointing fingers but one of the axle nuts was cross threaded and not even on all the way, allowing for quite a bit of play in the CV axle...I'm hoping that's all it is. If not i guess the car's gonna be down for another month because i don't have the time and money for this crap.

you can get the studs in and out on the rear without pressing it all apart.
but i will admit that it is tricky, not sure whether i would say it is easier disassembling the whole axle or shimmeying those suckers in and out.
there is only one spot where it will fit, and it isn't even really big enough.

I already have everything together. I drove it for 7 hours last night, like i said. Then i parked it for 10 minutes and when i went to drive it again, it started making this noise that EVERYONE is telling me is my wheel bearing, so now not only do i need to get two new wheel bearings at APPARENTLY almost $120 ******* EACH, but on top of that i need to find a way to fix the threads on the axle a bit more and get two new nuts...I mean really? Is there no where i can get a goddamn bearing for less than 120 bucks? This is going to cost me a whole damn paycheck by the time i tally everything up and include the shipping...What a joke man...what a joke

And mind you, this is after I've already spent upwards of 1500 getting it to this stage...I've already spent 90% of my upcoming college fund trying to get my car back up, and the only ******* damage was a bent rim and stripped studs. ******* christ.

You do understand that it's free to disassemble it and spin the bearings to find out if they're the culprit, right? And it's most likely only one side. The seals that Mazdatrix sells are only dust shields that act as a first line of defense, so you can probably get away with keeping them. They're cheap though, so why not replace them if you determine it to be a bad bearing.
If you think the threads are salvageable, then look for a metric thread file and try cleaning them up that way. You're not going to find a die that large, and if you do, it's going to be very expensive.
And calm down. All that language is pretty offensive, especially the religious blasphemy. It's not going to get you any more help, so cut it out.

I'm not religious, the words i see are just that, words. So if they offend, sorry, but i just simply can't believe that a single bearing is going to dry up my wallet, when the same bearing on ebay is a measly 10 bucks. Anyways, have you gone outside lately? If you think what I've said is bad you must not spend much time in the real world outside of church, i may as well have grown up on the docks with all the stuff i hear day in and day out. A handfull of cusswords and one "goddamn" is hardly anything insulting and bad. It's not like I'm a huge anti-christ...
Anyways, I'm going to grab myself a new axle nut and clean the threads up and see if that works, I've already taken it all back apart yet again and looked around, the bearings look fine. So i can't imagine what the noise is, I'm hoping it's just due to the fact that the nut was never backed down an extra 1/8th inch past the spindle, but rather flush with it, which allowed for quite some play in the axle. If that's all it is, it'll save me a lot of time and trouble, for sure.

That's funny.
Military guys have probably the worst mouths of anyone, but at least we know when it's appropriate and when it's not. Sounds like you have some growing up to do.
On top of that, I hope you strip the threads and splines on your axle, axle nut, and each subsequent attempt that you make until your college fund is 100% depleted.

Thanks for the good wishes over a handful of cuss words but hey, I already got it back rolling so. I think it's funny you all tell me to grow up and yet you all are the ones tripping ***** over a couple baddie words instead of actually helping. But hey, what do you expect. Thanks anyway.
