removing sound material

I wanted to know the best method or substanse to remove the material that is like melted tar?

I have heard of using Dry ice, but that seems a bit expensive.

How well does gas work?

Dry Ice. Comes off in sheets, very easy to clean up the minor bit of residue that remains.

Gas (i.e. torch) just melts it.. Still works, just messy.

Dry ice is the bomb!! For about an hour and a half, it was my best friend in the whole world!

Don't be upset if the results aren't quite as dramatic as you might think. My entire car yielded a little over 20# of tar once I was done. But on the plus side, it looks a whole lot nicer in a race car, and you can relocate the weight elsewhere if you need to.

RE: Dry Ice

I get dry ice from a local Publix grocery store. If you do not have a publix try another national chain. 2 bags will do a car easy. 10 bucks a bag or so.

Yeah, it is. Especially when you see how much money guys are spending on SSRs and other expensive wheels, just to save 2-3 pounds per wheel.
