ok i have very few mods so far to my rex but i was readin a old thread about your OMP and i was wondering if i should remove mine and just go to premix, my car only has 74k but it sound like it will be alot better for my engine, what do you guys think?

 

If you are willing to deal with the hassle, it is a very good thing to do. It also allows you to run synthetic oil...

Plug the holes on the pump with 4 (short) M8x1.25 bolts, and the 4 holes in the block with 4 (short) M10x1.25 bolts. While you are in there, you will be replacing all the vacuum lines, hard to get to coolant lines, fuel line, and the upper intake manifold gasket. I did the throttle body mod while I had it off, too.

I looked everywhere, and the best deal I found on an acceptible 2 stroke oil (which is one with the TC-W3 rating) is at NAPA, it is the Valvolene multi-use 2 stroke oil in the blue bottle. Mix 1 oz per gallon gas.

what is the mod you are taking about? i have my whole dynamic chamber and throttle body assembly off now(had to replace my pd), is the mod somithing you can do in a garage or do you need specail tools?

 

TB mod is very simple..you are basically removing 2 of the butterflies inside the throttle body.

 

Basically, the OMP is completely worthless, although im sure some crack head will disagree with me. If you think about it, the oil injected in the cylinder by the OMP will instantly burn off with the high internal engine temps, completely eliminating any lubrication the droplets would provide. In my opinion, its much better to add premix because the oil would be injected at a higher rate, but it most likely burns off also, and could slightly clog injectors. Its mostly a question of how long you need your motor to last, since premix in the gasoline lowers octane. If you only race the car on weekends, or only drive it on occasion, its much better to run no premix at all. I have my doubts about how much longer premix or the OMP makes your motors last, and considering premix lowers octane, it might be beneficial for those with higher HP who depend on a good tank of gas to run no premix at all for less chance of pinging.
