Time saver

my clock and one of my lights on the idiot light cluster were not working. so today i decided to take it apart and check all the cold solder points. i went through some of them that looked funny and re-soldered them. go back out to the car, plug it back in, same problem. after giggling around the wiring harness in the back where it plugs in, the lights would come on.

so here's the solution:

some of the male plugs upon entering the female plugs in the harness were not making good contact. simple fix: bend the male plugs about a millimeter or so to promote contact.

problem solved!

try this before you waste your time soldering.

I'll give that a shot...my clock likes to blink and die on me.

I would suggest soldering ALL of those pins, whether it looks good to you or not.&nbsp Micro cracks is not something most people can eyeball.&nbsp It might be that you had a few loose ones and jiggling it just "solved" your problem...

I completely agree with Ted. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Well the main prob was my clock, so I pulled the idiot cluster apart and found where the wires from the harness meet the circuit board, then become wires again then clock, I re soldered all of these to no avail, then the second go over I looked more closely some of the female plugs in the harness. They are pushed a bit more open than should be and not making contact. The best would be to remove the female plugs from the harness clean and reset there pressure points but, Like I said it is a time saver
