removing/installing logicon

does anyone know if you have to cut the wires in the back of the a/c & heater logicon? i was trying to remove one the other day and noticed that there were 2 clips and a set of wires that had no clip.

do i need to cut these wires?

i noticed that the wires that have no connector/clip ran underneath this black box and looked like you could disconnect them from the circuit board,
i pulled kinda hard and it didnt budge, i didnt want to break it, so i stopped

help please. thanks

can S5 be used in S4 and vice versa?

i dont know if the series can be swapped but to unplug it you have to follow the cord to the back to unclip the harness.

yes they can be swapped, the s4 is all black and the s5 is black and tanish. there are 3 harnesses. 2 that pulg in at the unit, and 1 that goes all the way under the dash up by the windshield. the best way i've found to replace a logicon is to remove the gauge cluster and reach into a hole ment for small japanese hands and disconect it

it is the most difficult and frustrating thing I have ever done on an FC. Took me about an hour of contortioning and scraped up arm just to undo the connector. As said above it is easier to take the cluster out but is still a huge PITA.

If I remember right the connector is clipped onto this metal bracket, once you break the the connector free it makes it much easier to separate the connectors. I wouldnt recommend cutting it but that's me.

seems like it would take me longer than 30 minutes, not to mention the other problems that i could run into with removal/install of dash.

i think i will just cut and splice. i can probably cut and splice 8 wires alot faster.

splicing isn't the best idea, its worth it to do the job right and not **** something up. its not that hard anyway, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger ;-) as for the dash removal, i'd like to keep my dash together so i don't break something that i didn't have to break.

When all else fails, look to the FSM Heating/AC section. You access the connector by removing the dash garnish. Did it once to remove one from a junker. Took all of 15 minutes. The pain was getting the right angle and screw driver length to remove the screw holding the center cap. Why in the world you would remove the entire dash is beyond me. The shortest distance between two points is not a parabola.
