I have seen write-ups on removing the dash out. but is it possible to remove the evaporator out without taking the dash out?

I would just remove the dash. The dash is pretty easy to remove.

You dont need to take out the dash. Not at all.

The evaporator was actually really easy to remove. Take out passenger seat to give yourself some room.
