FL Removing emissions

I plan on removing emissions on my 87 Na that I am in the process of rebuilding. I wanted to know what affect this has on gas mileage. I do not have to worry about emissions testing in FL, and I plan on premixing.

Any info is appreciated!

Keep the BAC valve. It's a common misconception that it is part of the emissions system. Emissions removal shouldn't affect gas mileage. It's easier to work on your engine with emissions removed, while getting rid of the 20+ year old valves, solenoids, and vacuum lines. Be sure to thoroughly seal the block-off kit you choose to use.

I personally like the MOP system. That's your choice if you're looking premix... Just be sure to remember to premix, and with the proper ratios when filling up on fuel.

Can I keep the OMP and delete all other emissions? I'm in the process of a rebuild and I want to delete everything that is not needed. If I delete the egr valve and get an oil catch can instead will this also delete the charcoal canister?

Yes keep the MOP. It is not part of the emissions system.

Are you planning on running a catalytic converter?

I'm gonna be using a straight pipe, so I plan on deleting the acv, and air pump.

In my experience, Cat's don't hinder flow as much as people assume they do. And they take a lot of the harshness out of the tone of the exhaust. I recommend them always.

I mean I want my car to be loud, (I enjoy making my stuck up neighbors mad) and I don't need to worry about emissions. Now if I found a good priced exhaust with one I'd take it.

Does your car magically get quiet after you've driven past the neighbors or does everybody get to suffer for their transgressions?

RacingBeat Mufflers are magical ^_- They KILL any bad vibes from the exhaust.
[RB Header/single cat or presilencer.. Still sounded weird compared to after the mufflers]

Well I haven't yet had the experience of driving my rx7 because it came with no motor, but my mazdaspeed protege for some reason gets louder as I pass through my neighbor hood.

And I do really like the sound of the racing beat exhaust, and according to the website it has pretty substantial gains.

Yep! The RB exhaust does make a pretty noteworthy difference to the seat of the pants feel.

I have heard that the Corksport exhaust is pretty loud. I have no experience with their exhaust, though. If you want a really good quality exhaust system... Go with a Racing Beat exhaust.

I can't make up my mind about using my stock na with a rebuild or doing a TII swap, but either way I think I'll keep the omp and delete everything else. Thanks guys!
