Removing carpet
I've read through a few old posts on removing the carpet and have basically done what everyone has mentioned so far. I have a black dash that I've been meaning to swap in so I pulled the dash out. The only thing left holding the carpet down is the AC/heater stuff. How exactly do I take this stuff out? I'm thinking its necessary to remove it since the carpet runs under all of it. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. All AC stuff in the engine bay has been disconnected for a long time now so I'm not sure what's left holding it down. How many nuts are supposed to be there?

its fairly self explanatory...
engine bay.... 2 hoses for the heater core, and one large and small metal hose that will have to be wrenched loose and seperated for the AC core.
interior.... start from the passenger side corner, and there should be 1 or 2 nuts on the bottom and 2 on top i believe.. then there is a large metal ring (so-to-speak) that connects it to the next box.. theres 2 of those that connect between the 3 boxes. one unbolts, the other just unsnaps with an attached clip. so just work you way from the furthest box, getting all the nuts off, and 2 "rings" connecting each box together, and then pull pull pull..sometimes they take a little force to pull them out.
and yes ,those need to be removed to do the carpet.

Pulling the HVAC system is a piece o cake, especially if the dash is already out.
I don't understand the hesitation, it's completely intuitive and almost self-explanatory and only involves a few bolts and hoses...why not just do it?
It's easiest to start with the blower motor housing and work your way to the center.

I cut the old one and i could see where it needed to be cut for re-install it was super simple. I think it was a section like 6". Just a slit I didnt cut anything off it. Installed and tucked it under trust me no one wold ever know how I did it the slit is way out of sight
