What part are you talking about? The shiny looking fluid on top of the oil? If so, gas would be my guess. But if you're talking about that powdery looking stuff, my guess would be metal. Try picking it up with a magnet.

ouch, this is never a good sign your motor was probably run low on oil at one time(or lots of times) causing some internal wear on your main barrings or other engine componits only thing to do is to keep up on your oil changes

Well I kinda have an Idea of what it is... on the last rebuild I had water going into my oil pan.... So I suspected a bad coolant seal... I immediately used the block weld **** and it didnt work, so i took it apart in a weekend and put it backtogether... Me being lazy as ***, I didnt clean the oil pan at all, so its most likely blockweld and on top of that, I found a leaf..... Now mind you, this is in a high performance turbo motor, hopefully the metal fragments dont *** up my turbo... Anyways, im an lazy *** idiot and sorry for posting this ****...

Btw, I removed the oil pan while the motor sits in the car... The oil leaks was giving me fines, so I had to do this...good thing I found it, I wonder what the metal fragments from block weld would do to bearings??
