im about to install the secondskinaudio product called damplifier pro, ive heard of people removing the OEM tar before installing but this sounds like a waste of time, should i go through the hassle of removing it/what are the benefits?

 

No. That stuff is there to do the exact job of the material you're also installing. Removing it would be a complete waste.
