Removal of oil fill tube from center housing.

What is the proper way to remove the oil fill tube from a center housing?

I have tried heating the housing with a torch and pulling it off with a big wrench but all I did was crush the base of the fill tube.

You took off the two nuts at the base that hold it on?

There are not to bolts holding it on. I believe it was pressed on? Mine is loose on my TII. Not sure how it comes off.

Take your biggest vice grips, place under the flange. Use a Dead blow hammer on the side of the vice grips to force the tube out.

I put the center housing in a vice, with wood to protect the face. I heated it up with a torch for about two minutes and put a pipe wrench around the middle and beat the side of my wrench with a dead blow as described by banzaitoyota.

It did not start moving until after the 5th or 6th it but it finally popped out. A few minutes at the wire wheel brush and a few more with some spray paint and it looks good enough to put on my rebuild.

The air vent tube, also on the center housing did not fair as well using a simular technique. It did come out in one piece but it is not usable. Tomorrow I will have to find a some 8mm tubing at Home depot or a machine shop that can make a new one to press in.
