release cylinder problems

can it still be air?
when i depress the clutch pedal the clutch release cylinder pushes the throwout bearing fork but not enough to disengage the gear...even if i pull the release cylinder off the tranny and hold it, depress the clutch pedal the pushrod inside the cylinder does not extend fully....how do i fix this?

**** i am really getting frusterated now

Bleed it. Use a speed bleeder if you don't have one.

Oh, check to make sure fluid isn't coming out from under the dust boot. If it is, that means fluid is getting past the piston seal instead of applying pressure to the piston. Friend of mine had that problem recently with a new clutch slave cylinder he bought from Atkins Rotary. They promptly replaced it for him.

I don't think it matters.

bleed it ON the transmission.. helps prevent hyperextending the piston in the cylinder. bleed it at both the clutch master cylinder and the clutch slave to make sure you have all the air out.. easiest method to do it is to have someone sit in the car, open the slave... slowly but fully depress the clutch pedal, close the slave. youll have to "flick" the clutch back up with your foot. keep repeating until full pressure is gained. just make sure you dont pull the clutch pedal up with the slave still open or you ruined all your effort

put a tube on your bleed and put the end of it in a contain keep the end submursed ion brake fluid now when you pump you can leave the bleed open a little and it will do the work for you just keep pumping till there are no more bubbles coming in the tube

damn dude, this clutch thing is kicking your *** LOL, If you pull the dust boot back a little and some seals are staring you in the face, then you "hyperextended" it, as you call it...In that case, you're going to have to clean and reseat all the seals/ springs into the slave cylinder, if not, just push the plunger back in & reinstall the slave to the tranny with the two bolts...put your finger over the bleed screw, crack it open, and have your helper push the peddle down/ lift up, repeat, all the while keeping your finger on the outlet of the bleed screw to prevent air from getting back in.... I'ts crude, I know, and it will make a mess, but it's a very effective way to bleed the clutch without all that hose bullshit...make sure your finger is still on it when you tighten the bleeder back down...
