What kind of engine oil are you running

Water wetter is some good stuff from what I've read.

As for lowering tire pressure, I wouldn't know. Personally I've never lowered my tire pressure for the drag strip, I just run how I do on the streets. I know it's very common, though, but anything that could damage I'm unsure about.

 

well i have severe traction issues on the streets and at the track running 32psi pressure....

like when my turbo spools, bye bye traction, hello smoke....

engine oil i'm changing soon too, hrm, i was running 10W30 in it....

For engine oil I was more referring to if you were using synthetic or not yet. Do you still have the stock ECU in your s5? If so that means you cant really remove the MOP and run premix (if you wanted to) since the ECU will go into limp mode. But from what I understand running Redline synthetic oil is okay even without running premix. Lots of synthetics leave ash content when injected into the engine to lubricate the apex seals, but Redline is fairly low with its ash content and can be used while still injecting oil, from what I've read. So if you're willing, next time you change your oil go with some Redline synthetic 10w30 too

And as far as your other thread, I'm very limited with turbo knowledge as I'm still an N/A guy building a bridgeport motor. I'm not sure if 720 secondaries alone would be enough (with the walbro), but again I have very limited knowledge about that.

Ummm...he has an S5 which has a viscous limited slip. Therefore, no LSD additive is needed, that is only for S4 clutch type LSDs.

On a side note. I know this sounds stupid, but before you change your tranny or rear diff oils, make sure that you take the fill plug off first!! I've had two friends of mine drain the tranny and diff only to discover that they couldn't get the filler plugs off. It really sucks to have those two things drained with no way to fill them. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

No additive? The redline additive, which I just read off the bottle, says it's for ALL differentials and ALL LSD's no matter what type.

holy **** thats expensive, but they had nothing but praise for the product....

dDuB i just got 75W80 for the rear and MT90 for the tranny, i guess MTL90 is just a little lighter.... plus they only had one bottle of the shockproof stuff, so i should be good anyways!...

I think that's probably just Redline trying to sell more of their product. The S5 viscous limited slip is a sealed unit, so the fluid won't even come in contact with the LSD.

Call me a cheapskate but...

What if I buy 2 litres of Redline 75W90 for the differential. I'll have 1/2 a bottle left over. Can I pour that in the tranny along with 2 litres of MT90? Can I mix Redline MT90 with 75W90 in the tranny?

Otherwise, I'll have 1/2 a bottle of 75W90 sitting around and 1/2 bottle MT-90 sitting around.
