Rebuilt Engin...Now a tight sopt on third crank

i just rebuilt my motor with new evrything..apex seals orings side corner seals springs all new.

now on the third crank i have a real tight spot when im turning the flywheel. right now i have it torked down to about 14 foot pounds, if i make it tighter the engin dont turn at all. im getting really good compression too, and im puring oil into the intake to help oil it

its sposed to be like 25-29 punds of tourk right?

im wondering if thats caust by a tight spot in the bearing? cuz if it were the crank it would be every turn, since the rotor only gose around once for every third turn, im guessing its the rotor.

dose any one know, please help thanks

Umm, wow. Never heard of that... Try rotating it the other way and see what happens...

What do you have torqued down to 14 ft-lbs? The tension bolts?

The engine should turn more or less freely (with the plugs removed, it should turn freely). If it's not, you don't want to risk starting the engine, or you'll very likely fry it in short order.

When I rebuilt my engine, it took quite a few attempts to get the apex seal triangular assist pieces to sit properly. "Superglue the seals together" is damn good advice.

Sad to say, if it's not turning right when it's not fully torqued, and it doesn't turn at all when fully torqued, you need to pull it back apart & see what's wrong.

Sounds like you have one apex seal binding in it's groove, due to poor cleaning of carbon from the slot, something awry with the springs, or something else. Also sometimes if you use those damned rubber plugs in the corner seals and one of them spins around a little bit during install, they can cause the apex seal to bind a lot. I haven't use one of those rubber plugs in about 4 years now with no adverse affects, and it makes building much easier.

That couldn't cause his issue, and it is not a big concern when using 2pc seals with the small assist piece anyway, as they adjust to fit. Clearance is much more critical when using a 1pc seal, but nobody runs those on the street anyway so we can assume he does not have them.
