Rebuilding a TII block with N/A rotors, which kit to use?

Alright, i got this TII block, SP maybe some more goodies inside. The only thing wrong with it is it smokes like a bitch and i have concluded that it has a bad coolant seal so im going to rebuild it. The only thing is, im not exactly sure which seal kit i need. Im 99% sure i need a TII seal seal and o ring kit bc it is a TII block and that would only make sence. Thanks agian guys

The geometry between the turbo and non turbo rotors are different. Make sure the rotor doesnt hit the housings.

The geometry is the same.

It's the geometry of '85-down and '86-up engines that are different. They changed the geometry in '86 which is why they also changed the water seal placement, so you can't accidentally mix '85-down and '86-up housings.

Since it's a T2 "block", use the T2 gasket kit.

Thanks for your help guys, thats what i figured, but better safe than sorry. What is the difference bt the TII seal kit and the N/A seal kit, wouldnt they be the same? or does the N/A have more seals in it or something? Thanks

The TII seal kit is going to come with a bunch of things you dont need. A n/a kit would work better. All of the internal seals are the same, as far as I know.

yeah, that's true, but you'll need the gaskets for the T2 intake manifold. not just the paper gasket but the O-rings as well. FC N/As did not have coolant passages there.

Or, you could just plug off the coolant outlets in the rotor housing. (I think Mazdatrix has pics detailing this) But then you're still out in the cold with respect to the paper gaskets.

I would plug the coolant passages in the rotor housing and remove the TB coolant hose going to it. You really don't need it.

Hylomar. Find it. Use it. It is your friend. No more pesky paper gaskets.

On a TII, the coolant passage on the rear rotor housing goes through the lower intake manifold to the water feed for the turbo - you do need that one .

The rear iron is the one with the TB water hose nipple that can be blocked off.

NA's don't have the extra cooling holes in the rotor housings, BTW.

You talking bout construction work?!?! LoL, **** man, i do construction 5-7 days a week 10+hrs a day, you must be out of your mind to think ill go to your house and build some more **** on my day off. haha, jk man, sure, i you need a hand give me a call, even though you damn got that sport from the J yard.. punk

--.. sooo, i should get the TII rebuild kit?... damn this is confusing. Im using an N/A intake manifold (it was the 6 port lower manifold was bored out and a custom plate was put in there so it will work on the TII motor) but,.. i plan on sorta pulling an Aaron Cake on this motor down the road, i just about have all the TII parts. Anyone wanna make some suggestions? I have the TII waterpump assembly with the lil coolant passage thingie on it, but i need a coolant return line for the turbo, i was thinking about just using the one that goes from the TB since i have that just ran into each other since i modded my TB. Damn this is peiced together like some Ghetto Compton ****. haha,... Thanks guys

Let me get this straight...
I think the original poster was talking about swapping in just the rotors into turbo engine housings?
Then the discussion turns into rotor housings?

I do no recommend running NA (compressor) rotors in a turbo engine, especially if you're using stock ECU to control fuel and timing.

The engine is going to detonate.

RETed, this is just about my situation. I have an 86 Base. But i came across an 87 2+2base with a TII block with N/A rotors in it.... i drove it, its fast as hell. I suspect porting. I want to rebuild it with the stuff thats in there already, leaving the N/A rotors in there for now, bc i have an N/A car. I just recieved a turbo and a few turbo odds and ends, S-AFC all those goodies, and later on down the road i wanna turbo this block. So.. what kit do i use? haha. what along post for such a simple question? If it blows...eh.. buy another. Hey Banzi, how much you want for that block?
