In a little bit here I am going to take my engine apart and see if the rotors and housings are good still to do a rebuild. I have the haynes manual and the movie will be comming, but right now I just want to see if shes worth rebuilding or not. Is there any things I need to know that maybe the haynes manual dosnt say. when you put the rotors back in do they need to go in the same spot? or both need to be exactly the same?? be cool if you could give me some info on stuff to watch out for and maybe stuff i should look for.

I bought the car knowing it needed a rebuild. But we wanted to get her running decent to see if there is other stuff that needed to be fixed also. So we got her running by a tow starting her. She ran just awful wouldnt idle and such. But we kept driving her to see if we could clear carbon up because she was sitting for a long time. I think the waterpump was bad. It ended up overheating died on me and siezed up

So thats why I am checking to see if its worth rebuilding or not. I guess now that you know what happened maybe you can get me some stuff to look for.

Probably shouldn't use the side housings if it overheated bad. I suppose you'll see some discoloring in the metal near the center if they are bad.
I suggest you take two 10" X 10" X 10" boxes, cut them in half (4 - 5" deep X 10X10 boxes) and keep everything you pull out (seals) in order.
The Haynes manual says to mark front and rear rotors.

Well I got to the rotors today. Was pretty surprised to see very little carbon build up at all. But the seals were pretty fucked up. The back rotor and housing turned out to be pretty well though. I think they are still useable. But the front ones i think are pretty fucked up. Pieces of the apex seal got stuck between the rotor and housing and scractching it up pretty good and put nice chunks in the rotor. Also it ended up siezing up somehow from a piece of it getting jamed between the rotor and housing. I am pretty sure these are not usable. I need to get some new pictures....the ones i have are terriable close up pictures. Going to find a different camera. Anyways, I didnt find any problems with it overheating. No signs of anything. So that is kind of nice. But I dont know if I want to use these parts. Probably going to find a used engine somewhere.

I will post some pictures so you can tell me what you think.

Get the Atkins video if you want some guidance on what is still good inside the motor. By your description the front housing is gone. You can look for a replacement housing and rebuild yourself for less money than a replacement motor. Not counting the tools you'll need in order to do the job right such as mic's, dial caliper, feeler guages, etc. and of course your normal hand. tools.
