rebuild time?

ok i have asked a few questions in the past few weeks about my friends 88 na gxl. here are all the pproblems with it.

-overheats almost to the H than drops.
-dont start. have to remove the spark plugs anf atf it.
-lots of white smoke pours out of her when u leav it sit for a few hrs.
-coolant diapears. its full 1 day the next its gone. and there is alot in the overflow.
- And just the other day the oil pressure gauge droped to 0 and dont move at all.
-the heater hose just blew off.and was ripped
-the thermostat looks liek it has oil\carbon on it?

so with alot of thoes symtoms it apears that the car needs new coolant rings.

the question is how can we be sure that its that. IF we bring it to mazda will they be able to tell us?

or is there any way of telling? the car runs great besides all of that. it just as fast as mine.

thanks

99% change that the engine is eating coolant. Have the system pressure tested. You will find that it will not hold pressure, and then when you start it back up, you will get the characteristic plumes of sweet smelling smoke.

Either way, you need an engine. It might not be possible to rebuild this one due to warpage and corrosion.

aaron is dead on, you might have a basket case on your hands. If so, might be some good housings to practice porting on.

take the time to do the test first and be sure. If your still unsure, share the results of your pressure test here so we can help you along.

Buy a compression tester and do a search on here. I'm new to RX-7s, but I read the procedure on here a while back, I just can't recall.

Your irons will be warped and the water passages will be corroded most likely, like Aaron said.
