Rebuild questions.....

I have a few questions about rebuilds and what not (and yes I searched, I just couldn't find anything that matched what I want to ask)

I recently got a 86 n/a 13b from someone for about $175, he says it was running before he parked the car, main reason he is selling it is because he hasn't used the car in a while and wants to part it out.

That aside, I was wondering how hard a rebuild would be, I can afford the master kit from Atkins but I really can't afford the price of their in shop rebuild and shipping it back and forth.

I really don't plan on porting it unless I can find someone around my area to do it for a good price (hudson vally, NY) I have the tools required for it and I am planning on getting the rebuild video with the kit, if the engine is worth rebuilding, after I inspect it.

1. So would it be worth it to rebuild my self?

2. What things should I look out for?

And if you have any pointers for rebuilding please let me know.

Thanks!

I'm new to this also but I think you should look at this thread that I I found in the archives. I am sure it answers some of your questions regarding pointers : ) .
