rebuild questions

I have a question for the all knowing out there. I found a deal on a non running 13b motor. I dont mind replacing the apex seals and buying a seal kit. My concern was the housing. I personally havent saw it very often but i know the finish or whatever. Is this pretty common and if so is it worth your time trying to fix or is it better to just buy new housings?

I am not 100% sure what you are asking but if you are asking if the rotor housings are damaged can you repair them the answer is no. You will have to replace them with a new or good used unit.

Hey man, if the deal on the "non running 13B" is over 100, i wouldnt touch it, unless of course its like low milage and the apex seals DIDNT! blow. If the seal goes out, it almost 100% sure busted the **** out of the rotor housing and the rotor. Possibly could have damaged the intermediate and end/front housings as well. The only "non running" motor i would buy would be one with a bad coolant/oil seal problem. That way the housing is way more likely to be good and in spec, same for the rotors. Good luck man, look around in Junk yards for motors to rebuild. Around here, at the local "U-Pull-It" you can get a motor for 100-150 bucks, just make sure it has good or decent compression.

You won't know if the housings are bad until you measure them unless there are obivious signs like pieces of apex seal embedded in the housing or nicks that can catch your fingernail.
