rebuild problems

i have a rebuilt T2 engine with a street port that i finally got all hooked up when i go to start it it will start rev up to about 2k and then shut off. i have tried to use the gas to keep it going but that doesn't seem to work. after the engine dies the stock oil gauge will shot up to 110. i have looked for vac leaks and have not found any. does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or a way to fix it ?

this is the stock oil pressure gauge? there is a little ground wire capacitor thingie on there that needs to be bolted down for it to work right. it looks like a ring terminal with a box on it. it gets brittle over the years.

....and as for the engine shutting off, it will naturally rev high uppon initial startup due to the aws. I would say your afm is shot making it shut off immediately. Check connections at the afm, or swap in an na one or a friends t2 one to test it.

well i went back and looked at some of the info on the engine and it seems that the last owner used the fd oil regulator so that is whats causing the high oil psi as for the not being able to stay running the past owner had drilled a hole in the back intake runner on the lim and the bolt that is in there is not sealing well so i will try and seal that up and see how everything goes.
