is my starter bad?

is my starter bad?

turn the key i hear something spining, do it again and i hear a grinding , do it again and it starts. is that my starter not engaging the flywheel?

Could be, unless when your starting it the second time the engine is still spinning from the first crank. If it happens a lot then you might want to pull your starter out and have a look at the sprag, with the starter out you should be able to get a good look at the ring gear on your flywheel as well.

well it happend about a 1yr ago then it was fin for like 3 months then i had problems with my thermostat which became a very time consuming project and now it back. lol this cars been givin me a headache !!! definitely not like my stang but still a great car.

not sure if our starters have a rebuild kit, or you just have to buy a new/used one, but I would pull the starter and check that out, and also check out the teeth on your flywheel to see if any damage has been done.
