rebuild pics / update
it was a cold morning and the car was running realy good. i was pulling hard in 4th gear and i felt the car go lean so i let off, thankful it was still alive. i drove about 20 miles and noticed a fatal amount of smoke so i got off the freeway and had the car toed to my shop. i didnt even check the car out because i already new what had happened.
when i started pulling the motor i noticed alot of oil in the exhaust. i thought just maby the turbo had failed an the hot side and the motor was still good(there was no oil in the intake) shure enough the turbo was trashed. the shaft is bent pretty bad and there are several busted vains. i assume this is from what ever hard seal busted from the detonation. (THE WATER INJECTION AND THE FMIC DIDNT SAVE ME THIS TIME)
50 LBS OF COMPRESSION BOTH ROTORS. weird that the figures even@ 50 lbs.
the other pic of interest it of the water pump housing where yopu can see the heavy pitting. which i beleve has been my mysterious creeping death overheating under heavy boost problem. so when your cooling system is perfict and you have checked everything, check the water pump housing
the rotors are from a 85 gsl se 3mm apex seals and high compression
stay tuned, i will have photos of the internals tomorrow
