Rebuild overheating?
Today I started my rebuild and it ran great. I noticed there was a coolant leak, between the block and LIM, so I put the hose on the rad mouth. It was running no fan, but it was getting fresh water. I didnt see any coolant coming out the rad when I accelerated for a moment so I crossed out a blown seal. But then I realized that even though the motor was getting fresh water the temp stayed at 85*c. This was from my microtech. And also noticed smoke comming from the wanter being sprayed on the surface of the koyo. Now, does it sound like a blown coolant seal? even though there are no comp bubbles in the coolant?

If it was a blown/folded/etc coolant seal you'd be noticing a fair amount of steam (since you're using fresh water you say) bellowing out of the exhaust. Notice any of this? If not I'd say it's probably not the seal.
You said there was a leak between the block and LIM, is this a TII motor? If so did you make sure to put in the o-rings for between the block and LIM?

no the steam was coming from the radiators endtank when water fell on it. I really didnt notice any steam comming from the exhaust..but I find it weird that it holds the temp so high after putting fresh water.

Hmmm, I'm not sure right now, if I think of anything I'll post back here, good luck with figuring it out, though.
Really I'd just start with trouble shooting all the cooling components to make sure all is well, but that's really the long/blanket type of answer for any problem
