KS rebuild or no

My car is running great =D
Only thing i worry about is that my oil pressure gauge stopped working. I regularly add oil and keep it full to compensate for not knowing. But i think i just hit a wire and haven't gone around to fix it. But to the point..

I've read up that:
White smoke = Apex Seals are going out
Blue smoke = Oil Seals are going out

I'm getting the Blue smoke..

Only thing is, that most the time they're going out on a turbo, but this is happening to my N/A
And its only when i backfire, so its above 7k.
Are oil seals a pain to change? [if thats the problem] Is it a fast fix?
- or -
Is it something else?

I'm sure i have a Stock ECU, and the only things i know that have been done are a Transmission swap, new exhaust, and radiator. I'm planning on doing a Street or Bridgeport in the next few months.
Thanks alot

Apex seals don't cause smoke as they wear down. They just lower compression and eventually let go.

Changing oil seals require an engine rebuild.

If it is just a puff of smoke, don't worry about it. If it is a massive cloud, then the engine is indeed wearing out. But check the basics first and make sure that your purge system is working properly.

There is a massive difference between a bridgeport and a street port. The requirements of both are opposite. Saying that you'll do a bridgeport or a streetport is like saying "Today, I think I'll dig a hole and fill it with donkey fur, or perhaps I'll just go t the mall instead.".

i thought they were just different cuts in the housing, and will make you run 2-stroke. and i would more than likely just do a street port.

Sort of, no, and yes.

When you cut down everything to the most simple form, then any kind of port is just a different cut on the housing. But how those cuts are done is what matters. The devil, as always, is in the details.

Unless you are prepared to change your intake manifold, run a standalone ECU and a loud exhaust, an NA bridgeport is not for you.

No port job requires you to run 2 stroke premix.

me = fail =[
i got my information straight now, and i decided to do a street port when i rebuild. i want performance, but don't want to swap to a turbo until i am more mechanically capable.
but to my posts earlier, lets just say i mis-interpreted information and failed at life

When you are ready to rebuild I reccomend Prather Racing in Wakarusa. Talk to Jesse and say Don Walsh sent you. They do the motors for my 2nd Gen E production racecar and the work is excellent. I have known Jesse and his dad Kent for many years and they are completely trustworthy and honest.

this blows, my check engine light will now flash every once in a while, so know the car is telling me it needs to rebuild..

only prob is, i don't have enough for my rebuild yet [ only got ~200 for it, and its going to cost me a good ~1600 to 1800 if i add a port and tranny rebuild]don't want to run an s4 tranny with that higher 5th gear, and it is really hard at shifting at points.

just giving you guys an update, and Don, i haven't gotten a chance to chat with Jesse yet, but i will soon about the rebuild.

The check engine light has nothing to do with needing a rebuild. Pull the codes and find out the error the ECU is throwing.
