rebuild, J spec, or other?

well, my car is doing ok but I want to inprove by porting the engine. I noticed that a rebuild kit cost $750-$950 dollars (WTF?). A j-spec turbo motor cost $899. When I go to port I want to rebuild but 750 bucks is steep for what I could get antoher engine for. Any ideas?

wait, is your engine blown or going bad ??? if it isn't wait till you engine blows then have it street ported etc. if you have money to burn you can buy a jspec engine then send it to http://www.pineappleracing.com and have them do the works to it porting an engine on an otherwise stock car you won't see much of a performance increase.... if the car is modded you will see much more benefit

You can't compare the costs of a rebuilt engine to a 100,000km engine from Japan. One's practically brand new, one could **** itself in a week. If you wanted to port the J-spec, you've got to rebuild it anyway. If you can afford it, get your engine ported and rebuilt.
