Rebuild dying under braking

I've had about 10 hours on the rebuild now, and I just started actually driving it yesterday. Today I got a little more adventurous with it and took it for a bath up the street. Everything was fine until I stopped at a stop sign on the way home. I was just holding my foot on the brake when the car gave up and died. It took me a while to get it restarted, but I did get it back home. Tonight, I wanted to try and get some more gas in the tank, but coming down the steep alley where my garage is, the car died again under braking. I figured this was all caused by the vacuum asist, but I wanted to check with more knowledgeable sources. I also was wondering if there is something I can do to help the situation (besides not braking). BTW, all of the emissions stuff is gone except for the BAC valve, if that makes any difference. Sorry for the long post, any help would be great.

Hmm, could just be the "rebuild has low compression" thing biting you...

You could try "tweaking" your idle up just a bit until she gets broken in a little more, see if that helps....

Not braking wouldn't be an option in my book, lol...

Could it also be a clogged fuel pump? Might check it just to be safe...it's not hard.
