Awhile back someone was offering a service to rebuild 2nd gen alternators to handle more. Anyone have any info on this service? I need to get mine rebuilt.

 

some people have used the FD alternator and make it work with the FC....search for this(copy+paste) in the second gen forum: FD* Alternator

 

^^I'm looking to have my stock s4 alt rebuilt and upgraded as well. I really don't want to screw around with the FD alt...unless someone is making a kit for it again....as I believe silverrotor is no longer making them. So does anybody here on the forum do alt rebuilds and even slight upgrades ...to maybe 90 or 100 amps?

Try asking on your local boards...there's lots of auto electrical shops that will rebuild it for you.

 

I called the ohop I could find in my yellow pages around here, and they said they could rebuild it..I asked if they could rebuild it and boost the output a bit...he asked what type of car, and as soon as the word "mazda" came out of my mouth, he was like "nope, we can't upgrade those"....sooo....that's a no go. This is the kind of reasons I hate living in the middle of nowhere.
