Cool REBUiLD ADViCE

WELL THE TIME HAS COME AND WAY TOO SOON MY FRIENDS BUT A REBUILD IS NEEDED , I DUNNO IF IM JUST MAKING MYSELF BELIEVE THAT ITS AN EASY TASK OR IT REALLY IS DIFFICULT TO DO, FOR ANYONE WITH ADVICE, IM VERY THANKFUL FOR ANY OUNCE OF IT THAT IS GIVEN...
FIRST OFF I OWN A 2ND GEN 87 TURBO 2, I HAVE PICTURES..

there she is:
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2.../rx7may061.jpg
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2.../rx7may062.jpg
theres her backside:

the engine that couldnt:
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...rx7pics005.jpg

AT THIS POINT I'D TURN ON THE CAR AND FEEL THE CAR RUMBLING WHAT HAPPENED WAS IN MY NUMBER 1 HOUSING AN APEX SEAL WENT AND MY MECHANIC IS ONLY FEELING ONE PUFF OF AIR AND THEN ONE BIG PUFF OF AIR COMING OUT..SO IM WOUNDERING FIRST OFF IF THERE WOULD BE ANY SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE HOUSING >?? AND IF ITS EVEN WORTH THE REBUILD?? ANYWAYS I LOVE THIS CAR I WANT TO SAVE MYSELF THE MONEY AND I WANT TO LEARN ALL ABOUT HER.......
BUT ANYWAYS IM GONNA END UP TAKING IT APART AND APPLING ALL NEW SEALS AND EVERYTHING THATS INCLUDED IN THE REBUILD KIT BUT THIS TIME THE ENGINE IS GETTING THE 3 MM APEX SEALS, NO DOUBT IS THIS GONNA HAPPEN.. IM ALREADY GONNA BE IN THERE AND I PLAN ON APPLING MUCH MORE BOOST A BIGGER TURBO AND A FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER THIS TIME GOING IN AQUA MARINE STYLE HA HA ITS A BIG TASK IM SURE BUT WE ALL HAVE THE SAME HOBBY ON HERE RIGHT??
SO IM LOOKING FOR SOME ADVICE FROM YOU GUYS IM NO EXPERT AND I HAVE YET TO DO THIS I HAVE A DECENT AMOUNT OF KNOWLEDGE ON THE ENGINE.. BUT I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD BE AWARE OF,
WHAT TO LOOK FOR,
WHAT TO BE CAREFUL WITH,
WHAT TYPE OF SEALANT SHOULD BE USED,
WHATS NOT INCLUDED IN THE REBUILD KIT THATS NECESSARY,
WHAT REBUILD KIT IS A GOOD ONE,
WETHER OR NOT PEOPLE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ANYTHING BEING WARPED,
WHAT ELSE SHOULD I LOOK AT WHILE IM TAKING HER APART...
WHAT BASICALLY COULD MAKE THIS OPERATION GO TO ****..
MY POPS HAS HIS DOUBTS AND SO DO ALOT OF MY FRIENDS... IM DETERMINED IM NOT LETTING THIS CAR GO...
ME AND MY COUSIN ARE GONNA GOING IN JOHNNY CABACHIE STYLE WITH MANY BEERS IN THE SYSTEM.......ALL ADVICE WILL BE HAPPILY REVIEWED, ALSO ANYONE THAT HAS REBUILT THEIR ENGINE ABOUT HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO YOU TO DO DAYS MAN HOURS HOWEVER MANY BEERS LATER, ALSO WHAT SPECIAL TOOLS ARE NEEDED, AND WHERE TO GET THEM AT AND TO GET THEM CHEAP!! AND IM ALSO GETTING THE VIDEO THAT HEARD ABOUT AND THAT I SEEN PREVIEWS FOR THE STEP BY STEP ONE.. IF ANY ONE KNOWS WERE I CAN DOWNLOAD IT FOR FREE TO SAVE ME TIME BY ALL MEANS!! THANKS

sorry about the caps, thats funny af you really went out of your way with that one lol, and zaldak, yeah your right about the beer and rebuild in the same sentence, but i would be so focused busy into it to only drink one if that but thats all... good quote on top of that!! carzy driver i already ordered the bruce video.. i heard nothing but good things about it, and it was even entertaining at the same time... me and my cousin are nothing but pumped up to do this as soon as we review the video.......so no suggestions on a good rebuild kit thats has 3mm apex seal ?

The Turrentine video is excellent. The one thing to realize is that Bruce is working on a fairly pristine engine that:

a) comes apart easily,

b) does not need major replacements, and

c) cleans up easily.

Realize in advance that by far the biggest job in rebuilding an engine is the cleaning of all the parts. I don't think that this point comes across well in the video. The other issue is that you never know what you are going to need in turns of spares until you get everything apart, so don't be suprised if this ends up costing a bit more time and money than just the price of a $550 rebuild kit.

Good luck with the project.

You shouldn't need 3mm Apex seals unless your seal slots are damaged.
The RA basic kit has everything you should need, unless your housing is damaged.

Yeahh, maybe with some luck this will be a smooth operation and not have to replace anything such as the rotor housings but we shall see..
Reason for the 3mm apex seal is because im looking to put a t72 turbo on it if all goes well with the rebuild and i want to make sure that its gonna be able to handle that..and thanks for the gasket link!! im still looking around more suggestions are apprectiated...

At ~$500, you still have enough to replace a bad housing if needed.
Also, you don't really need gaskets except for the exhaust.
Everything else can seal up with RTV.

I had some detonations due to a fuel pressure problem after the rebuild.
It scared the **** out of me, but the RA 2mm seals held nicely.

Bruce Video And Ready To Pull Out That Engine!!

Well I Finally Recieved My Bruce Video And This Guy Is A Nut, But Knows His Stuff Thats For Damn Sure.. Me And My Friends Took Most Of Everything Off The Engine To Pull It Out, Has Anyone Accomplished Pulling The Engine Out With The Transmission On It ? That Would Be A Hell Of Alot Easier Considering I Dont Have A Car Lift But Well See What Ever It Takes...
The Bruce Video Is Pretty Good, I Like Some Of The Modifications He Applies To The Engine.. There Was One Modification He Talks About And It Involved Keeping A Constant Flow Of Oil To The Engine Which Is Nice.
Also For Those Who Seen The Video, Has Anyone Actually Changed The Flow Of The Port Like He Did ? I Dont Know If He Was Saying That Its The Same For Every Rotary Engine Or What But Mines The 87 Tii Engine And Im Not Sure If I Should Go Ahead And Give That A Try..
One Thing Im Really Concerned About It Is What My Engine Is Gonna Look Like On The Inside, Because Reason For My Rebuild In The First Place Is The Loss Of An Apex Seal On My Number One Rotor...
I Think Reguardless Im Gonna Get Two Fairly New Housesings In There, Im Not Taking Any Chances, Im Going To Try To Take Some Of The Same Amount Of Measurements And Readings That Bruce Did, But I Really Dont Have The Money To Afford All The Measurement Tools He Had.. Im Just Gonna Look Around For Anything That Looks Really Worn And Crappy Looking And Replace It, But Other Then That, Just A Real Good Clean Up On Everything, And Put The Master 13b 87 Turbo Ii Rebuild Kit With 2mm Apex Seals Kit Into Place...

Yes, you can pull the engine and tranny together. I think you just unbolt the engine/tranny mounts and disconnect the driveshaft.

You still haven't figured out when to use the caps lock and when not too. It makes your posts a nightmare to read.
