Reason for car wanting to redline at startup?
Can anyone think of a reason why my TII wants to redline when I start it up?
-Throttle is not stuck open or anything like that
-Cruise control is not connected.

Well there is this something called an AWS (Accelerated Warm-up System) that mazda put on our vehicles. Its also referred to the "3k Warm-up/start-up." I have no idea why the car would want to bring it all the way to redline but, you can remove the AWS with either the rtek7 ( http://www.pocketlogger.com/index.php?pid=rtek7feat ) and get some other goodies along with it (FCD) or you can just disconnect it. The reason it's there is to warm-up the pre-cat.

Well try disconnecting the AWS, maybe its just whacked up, I don't know how/why but, its worth a shot. Doesn't look like it will take more than 10 min to do. Getting under teh car would take the most time

yeah, Im no expert on the AWS system, but I would pull it and throw it out anyway.. I know Mazda had reasons for putting all of the crap into our engine bay, but I got rid of it and made my engine a Rotary for Dummies setup
