Dude, you might reconsider the idea of putting some after market spoiler or "wing" on your FC. Most people (and I'm one of them) will say it's unecessary, makes the car look bad and makes you a member of the "ricer" culture, which is undesirable.

There are those who will call it gay or stupid or ugly, but I'm not one of 'em.

I think the stock rear one looks nice... On 87-88 TII's,it helps a lot along with some side skirts. On 89-91, I like the no-spoiler look. Just try to not get a spoiler that changes the lines of the stock Fc body and I think it should look awesome.

I kinda like the one from Mariah Motorsports, some might call it rice but as long as you like it then it doesn't matter.

I kind of wanted to get an aluminum wing because i'm increasing the torque and hp by alot, and the downforce would be helpful for acceleration. I know it is looked upon as rice, but from a drag point of view i think it would help the car...

and i'm looking for a wing, not a spoiler, so i can make adjustments to the downforce.

damn! I can't remember the name of it but it is a damn good looking spoiler.

I have seen it on a guys sig on a black FC.
It retains most of the looks of a TII spoiler while wrapping the beginning of it more into the side of the rearend.

I am guessing on makers here.
Knightsport?

It's simplistic but looks great.
As for the Aluminum wings. I say keep them for the shopping carts like hondas. Besides there is not much room on the back for one. I have seen 2 FC's with aluminums and they pulled it off pretty well.

I'm not an aeronautics engineer but it would seem that the speeds needed to gain the downforce advantages that a wing like that offers would not be reached during drag racing. it almost seems as if it would hinder efforts by increasing drag and slowing you down.

on the other hand road racing where high speeds stay more consistant it becomes a major handling advantage.

there is only one functional and good looking wing that i would like to see on a FC:

personally i would just keep a stock spoiler on there and put the money into something else.
Have fun

Stock wing is where it's at
It's nicer than 99% of aftermarket spoilers out there (honestly.. 99%, maybe more) and you can pick one up for $50 + painting.

What more can you ask for.
When you can buy the best product for the cheapest price, it sure makes you feel good.

Cool Road racing...

This custom fab'd rear wing allowed my friend to run laps almost 2 seconds quicker at Mosport. The rear end of the 2nd gen dances a bit once you hit 165 mph for a sustained period i.e. backstraight.

If you do get a wing make sure its adjustable and not just a "for show" wing. Wings aren't rice on a car that has the need for one. I understand they look nice and I do like them but as with everything else if its for looks (especialy if its popular) and is not for performance its considered rice. Just be ready to take abuse from your peers.

you're use of the wing isn't going to work. yes when adjustable you can see downforce at speeds even as low as 40 if its shape and size are right. but you will also be seeing some decent drag from it as well. all in all unless you are battling a loose rearend at high speeds though, it'll just be a hunk of metal occupying your lid and a ticket to all ricers, rustangs, and small farm animals to race you.

Ydon't NEED a rear wing. Unless you are going to be racing around a track, with 600HP. Even if you are going to increase HP and torque "a lot." The RX-7 naturally produces downforce on the rear area.

What mods are you doing to increase your HP and torque?

Yes, get the whole RE Amemiya kit.

*putting on flamesuit*

i'm doing a v8 swap, so the downforce will be helpful, 300+ hp and 350+ torque, and the car gained about 100 pounds, but i'm starting to lighten it up anyway.

I beg to differ. I have a Kamanari wing cheesed on which, to me, Is the best out there. Excuse the pic. It doesn't provide enough justice.

LMAO-
You can't produce downforce with a wing unless you moving, so your added torque and horsepower comments are retarted.

Unless you plan to run 160mph by the end of the 1/4 mile the best wing is no wing. You wont be making enough hp to justify the extra downforce vs the increased drag-
