Rear wheel bearing changed by shop, ABS light on now and steering wheel not straight

So I got the FC back from the shop who did the new wheel bearing in the back and the ABS light comes on. So Im guessing they damaged the sensor, what issues can I run into with the light being on.

And, on top of that, they somehow managed to make my steering wheel off center, with the car traveling straight, the wheel is slightly turned to the right. How easy of a fix is this?

i forget if the computer disables the whole abs system if the light comes on or not. and for the steering wheel, it may be the whole alignment. but the quick easy answer your prob looking for is just as simple as pulling off the steering wheel (easy) and then just repositioning it a couple notches which ever way.

They might not have bled the brake system properly after the bearing change. Ask them if they disconnected the caliper, or just had it hanging by a wire or something.

Why the heck did they mess with the steering???

You can disconnect the splined shaft from the gearbox input in the engine bay if you want (rotate it one spline whichever way you need to go), and that will reposition the steering wheel. Still- why the heck is the steering screwed up when all they did was change a rear wheel bearing???

i'd just take it in for an alignment.

and have the shop fix the abs stuff--they might have just forgot to reattach the wire on hte sensor, or it may not be set in quite straight.

i dout they disconnected the abs wire, because it would prob cause more damage to it taking it apart if u even can. maybe the abs sensors were so rusted in to hub and they had to punch it out smashing the sensor all up making it not work or the sensor isnt within clearance specs (as in to high) from the abs ring

Hey 311,
If they removed the upright (carrier), they most likely damaged the abs sensor in the press. Also, I would believe the rear toe is somehow out of alignment. Long story short...have them align your ride and fix the sensor.

good luck,

You need alinement for the rear of the car. Anytime you remove the suspension components your alinement is gona go wack.. As for the ABS sensor is it pluged in?

The ABS sensor needs to removed before the assemble can be taken off the car. I have said this before, that sensor is a "bitch" to remove. It takes quite a while and a great deal of fiddling with the sensor to get it out as it can only be turned back and forth maybe a .25". They probably broke the tubing. That tubing runs from the rear wheel all the way to the front. Sit down when you check the $$$$$$.
Have an alignment done. I hope the steering wheel isn't cocked to keep the car tracking straight. Meaning, if something in rear isn't assembled properly it's causing the car to pull or push in a direction and you need to **** the wheel to keep it straight. While driving on a flat road, maybe 50/55 mph, just remove you hands from the wheel and see it it tracks straight.

what's so hard about removing the sensor?
hose it off with some wd40, wiggle it a bit, and it pops right out...at least it has on all the fc's i've done this to.

did you both use the same shop? HAHA. the abs light means the ABS system is not functioning, but you do have normal brakes until they replace the sensor. as for you steering wheel being off , that seems weird. i can see if the rear alignment was causing it to pull but it wouldn't affect the position of the wheel. do not reset the wheel from the steering shaft/column, it will just make it way off the other direction. just get a 4 wheel alignment.
