Rear Grounding Location in S4 Convertible
Rear Grounding Location in S4 Convertible
Hello all,
A while back I noticed that the fuel gauge began acting up, almost never showing full and dropping much more quickly from full-ish to about 1/4 tank. I finally started looking into it, and it looks like when the car is running there is a 0.5V difference between the ground at the battery and the ground wire at the fuel pump connector. This seems a bit excessive, especially since I could only get about 0.1 - 0.2V ground difference from the battery to the chassis elsewhere, or at JC-01 or the cigarette lighter. Looking at the FSM, it appears to ground primarily through a point named #25 in the passenger's side rear of the hatchback.
For a convertible, does anyone know where this is located? I saw two ground wires bolted to the chassis in the trunk, but one was clearly just going to the fuel tank fill neck, probably to discharge static, and the other one was right near the trunk latch but nowhere near as large as the ground wire coming out of the fuel pump connector.
Thanks,
Pete
