Rear End Swaps

Ok guys got a couple of questions about rear end swaps
for a 86 non turbo my gears are 4.10 right, the gtu's have 4.30 gear i think, those two rear ends can be swap right. or are all non turbo rear ends the same besides the gears

GTUs is an actual model, very rare it is like an autocross ready n/a ....good luck finding the differential, easier to find a differential from an 89-91 T2......they have a different posi then the 87-88 T2

This is confusing, so let's see if I can clarify.

Pretty much all automatics had the 3.90 gear.

Pretty much all of the manuals had the 4.10 gear

The ONLY cars that came with a 4.30 gear, that I know of, are:

88 GTU
89-90 GTUs

The 88 GTU and 89-90 GTUs are the super NA RX-7, stripped, with all the go fast goodies.

the 89-91 GTU is the base model for 89-91.

Im not sure, but i think that the 88GTU had a 4.10LSD, not a 4.30. But i may be wrong. Anyone clarify either?

88 GTU has 4.3 ratio?

Sorry, bro. Wrong answer. No US delivered 1988 Rex's came stock with 4.3 gearing. 4.1's in all '88's except Automatics (with exception perhaps of GXL's) and the Vert.

Some thought that that S4 and S5 Jspec Rex's with Manual Tranny's had 4.3 though.

god damn i got a ******* piece of **** gxl hiding in my rollup windows and manual lock doors **** that.... hey man i still love my car

SHAUNB all na trans and diffs are swapable to your car and all turbo trans and diffs require that you get the whole turbo driveline or or or get a t2 trans clutch flywheel and an automatic driveshaft and that will connect to your na diff...As for the starter do you need a turbo starter???? anyone

Damn, i wanted to bust out a 4.3LSD swap on my 86 base, .. but... they only came in certain verts and in GTUs (the model, not the plural of GTU)?

Thanks, and.. anyone have a 4.30 for sale? haha

well what i will be running when i get it together is a 90 t2 motor with a 7 inch supercharger, a 90 t2 tranny, and hopefully if i can find one, a gtu rear end, with with 4.30 ratio, and its a 86 gxl, which is one of the lightest FC's made, what drive shaft should i use, or which will work. the t2, or the gxl. thanks for all the imput guys

You will need the Automatic N/A driveshaft or if you want to use a TII driveshaft you wil have to use the TII rear end b/c the bolt pattern is different. The reasoning for the automatic driveshaft is bc it is shorter as you will have to use a shorter driveshaft.
