Rear end moves right on bumps

Very strange, but whenever I hit a bump, whatever, in the road, the rear end always shifts to the right. I can feel it. What would be causing this? I also hear a 'thunk' from the rear-right when I go over bumps. This is an '86 GXL.

Yeah could be shocks, but now after searching around a bit, it MAY be a bad diff mount. Although its not clunking on accel/decel, just when hitting a larger than normal bump.

Shocks and bushings?

My '88 SE does the same thing. It feels like the rearend will sway slightly after every descent bump in the road. I was thinking poor shocks and worn bushings are the problem.

On a related matter, anyone know of a mechanic they trust to do suspension work in/near Raleigh, NC?

A good way to tighten the rear up all around would be...

1. Replace control arm bushings

2. Install DTSS eliminator bushings

3. Replace struts
