rear end

Wats up guys,

Well my rear end kinda whines a little under light acceleration and goes with the rpm's.

I want to change the fluid in the rear what do you guys recomend any certain kind? this is my first rear wheel drive car so ive never looked at different kind of oils for them.

Also i Havent checked yet but to change the tranny oil is it as easy as the rear end. are the drain and fill plugs easily reached? And i get a little grind once in a while shifting would syncromesh be good to add to the trany? And howmuch oil do theese tranny's take.

Thanks,

Also it's an 89 GXL if that helps.

Adam.

Been threw it. I saw nothing about recomended rear end fluid nor the answer to my tranny question about if the drain and fill plugs are easily reachable..

Maybe i missed it..

Thanks tho.

info on the tranny its pretty easy, make sure you can get the fill plug off before you drain all the old fluid out.

do you have a LSD in the rear end?

search for the FSM it has all your specs for the fluids

could be low fluid could be time for a rebuild cant tell from here, ive never used syncromesh search around i dont see why you couldnt use it.

also check your shifter bushings (is the shifter really loose?) sometimes that will cause the tranny to grind (www.mazdatrix.com sells them)

No, I dot think so, It's a whine that i only here on very light throtle and only during certain peed ranges like from 20-40 and 60-80 and only on light throttle or acceleration

Is your car auto or manual? You might not hear it because the rpms are lower due to a higher gear at those speeds. Try listening to see if you can hear it by slowly revving the engine while sitting still. If you cant hear it then that eliminates it as the problem.
